Geralt & Jaskier Aren’t Friends Anymore Confirms Witcher Doc Trailer

Geralt and Jaskier aren't friends anymore, confirms The Witcher documentary trailer. Netflix dropped a surprise behind the scenes documentary this week about season 1 called, Making The Witcher. Season 1 of the Netflix original series told the story of Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), the titular Witcher, and is based off the best-selling series of books by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The television adaptation's first season was such a hit with fans that it became one of Netflix's most in-demand series. Before its premiere, The Witcher was renewed for a second season. One of the biggest cliffhangers of season 1 was the question of whether or not Geralt would repair his friendship with the jovial bard Jaskier in season 2.

Geralt's friendship with Jaskier was without a doubt a highlight of the first season. Jaskier was arguably Geralt's only friend, and would sing the song, "Toss A Coin To Your Witcher," to help the generally disliked Geralt get paid for his monster hunting work and help Geralt's overall image. Geralt and Jaskier's comically tumultuous friendship ended on a sour note in season 1 after Geralt blamed Jaskier for all of his troubles up to that point. Jaskier left Geralt after the Witcher's angry outburst, and hasn't been seen since.

In a hilarious "unauthorized and unofficial" trailer for the Making the Witcher documentary, Jaskier himself takes over and renames the documentary, "Behind the Bard." Jaskier tells the narrator of the documentary trailer to change the description of Geralt as Jaskier's best friend, approving of the change describing Geralt as, "Jaskier's former best friend, the grumpy snowman." Check out the full amusing trailer below, courtesy of Netflix.

Jaskier cemented his status as a fan-favorite character due to his role as the comic relief of the series, as well as his lighthearted personality balancing out Geralt's more serious nature. Although the status of their friendship still remains up in the air for season 2, Geralt did actually care about Jaskier and demonstrated it multiple times throughout the first season. Season 2 resumed filming this month after being shut down earlier this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Even though filming was delayed, season 2 is still slated for a mid to late 2021 premiere - for now, at least. While there has yet to be any details released about how Geralt will reunite with the bard in the second season, Joey Batey's confirmed return for season 2 proves that the friends will find each other again somehow.

Geralt and Jaskier may not be friends at the moment, but hopefully fans will get to witness more of their adventures in The Witcher season 2. Fans can check out the Making The Witcher documentary available on Netflix now in the interim, The highly anticipated second season has a lot of questions to answer, but one thing remains certain: If there's one thing a man like Geralt will need to face the troubles ahead of him, it's a loyal friend like Jaskier by his side.
