Oscar Isaac Dunks On Josh Brolin, Compares Dune Co-Star’s Head To An X-Wing

Oscar Isaac playfully makes fun of his Dune co-star Josh Brolin by comparing his head to an X-wing. Dune is set to arrive on the big screen in December after months of anticipation. As the latest adaptation of Frank Herbert's seminal novel, there's a great deal of interest surrounding the project, but there's also some wariness, as past iterations have fallen flat. Nevertheless, director Denis Villeneuve has approached Dune with the intention of splitting the film into two parts, which could help him properly honor the source material. It also helps that he has a really impressive cast populating the project.

Star Wars alum Isaac plays Duke Leto Atreides in Dune, the leader of the desert planet Arrakis. Brolin is Gurney Halleck, Leto's master-at-arms who also serves as a mentor to his son Paul (Timothée Chalamet). As a whole, Dune's cast is undoubtedly one of the most exciting parts of the film. In addition to Isaac, Brolin, and Chalamet, Dune also includes heavyweights like Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Rebecca Ferguson, and Javier Bardem. Fans are quite eager to see them come together for this sci-fi epic, especially because they seem to get along so well behind the scenes.

During the Dune Trailer Debut Event Conversation on social media, Isaac had the opportunity to take some shots at his right hand man. Host Stephen Colbert asked Isaac about what it was like to be on the grand, "unprecedented" sets, and Isaac took his answer in a completely different direction: "I’ll just say that no set piece, no X-wing, no Millennium Falcon could compare to the sheer scale of Josh Brolin’s head. It was massive, both literally and figuratively. It really made me feel like I was in an alien planet." Isaac's quip sent his cast - particularly Momoa - into hysterics, though Brolin had no witty comeback.https://i0.wp.com/storage.waploaded.com/images/7194a4f135087d93111b30343209a669.jpg

The end of the conversation brought what fans had long been hoping for: Dune's first trailer. Several images have been revealed over the past few months, but this is the first time footage has been unveiled. If there was any doubt that Villeneuve has constructed his Dune to be as big as it can be, the trailer has firmly put those fears to rest. One of the best parts of the new trailer is simply seeing the entire cast together in character. Plus, now fans can decide for themselves how Brolin's head stacks up compared to Dune's set pieces.

Dune is on track to debut in theaters at the end of this year, though Warner Bros. indicated it could still be delayed. A vast majority of 2020 movies have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, and though Dune is still four months away, it isn't quite out of the woods. The coming weeks will likely provide a better idea of whether fans should expect Dune this year or in 2021. After this trailer debut, though, fans might really be hoping for it to arrive sooner rather than later.
