What Falcon's New MCU Costume Could Look Like In Color

An Instagram artist has envisioned what Falcon's (Anthony Mackie) new costume in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier might look like in color. The upcoming TV series is one of a handful of live-action Marvel Studios shows currently in the works at Disney+. Set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will focus on the adventures of its two titular characters, Sam Wilson (Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan)

Filming on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier recently resumed, following a months-long hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and both Mackie and Stan are back on set in Atlanta. In addition to their characters learning to live in a new reality without Tony Stark or Steve Rogers always around, one of the biggest things the series will focus on is Sam taking on the mantle of Captain America. With that in mind, Anthony Mackie shared some behind-the-scenes images on social media recently, showing off his character's new costume for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The images, however, were in black and white, and prevented fans from getting a complete sense of what the costume will look like in the series.

Instagram digital artist Albin George - whose handle is stark46192 - has colorized Mackie's costume, all in an effort to get a better idea of the costume itself. For his rendition of Mackie's costume, George sticks with a red and black color scheme, highlighting Mackie's torso, shoulders, boots, and goggles in red. The artist also filled in the remainder of the costume with black, which is a startling contrast and only makes the red pop more. Finally, there are touches of silver to accent certain areas of the suit, including a silver "V" shaped insignia on the chest. Check out George's work below:

While Mackie's Sam Wilson was gifted Captain America's alias by Steve Rogers at the end of Avengers: Endgame, he won't make the transition quite yet at the start of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Early footage from the series shows that the U.S. government wants to replace Captain America with one of their own - a U.S. Agent named John Walker, played by Wyatt Russell. In trailers, Walker is seen in full costume, complete with his own Captain America shield. As such, it's evident that Sam Wilson has an uphill battle ahead of him if he wants to truly lock down the title of Captain America for himself, perhaps explaining why the costume could lean more towards the Falcon's traditional colors, rather than the familiar red, white, and blue of Captain America.

Although COVID-19 means The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's premiere date has been significantly pushed back, new set videos show that the cast and crew are indeed making progress. This is good news for fans, who are eager to jump into Marvel's Phase 4 following the explosive conclusion of Avengers: Endgame. That being said, here's to hoping the series sees Sam Wilson make the transition - both symbolically and cosmetically - from being the Falcon to the new Captain America sooner rather than later.
