Daenerys Targaryen becomes the Mother of Pokémon Dragons in this fun Game of Thrones mashup. For eight seasons, Emilia Clarke's Daenerys won over audiences with her powerful journey from a timid exile to fierce queen. Each season of Game of Thrones saw Dany reach a new point in her trek back to Westeros, and her goal always remained the same: To sit on the Iron Throne. Daenerys was easily a fan favorite, with her title "Khaleesi" becoming just as popular as her own name. It helped that Daenerys had three impressive dragons flanking her everywhere she went.
Much like the entire eighth season of Game of Thrones, however, the end to Daenerys' story proved immensely controversial among fans. The final episodes of the series saw Daenerys descend into madness following the losses of some of her closest confidants and two of her dragon children. Fans were stunned to see Daenerys and Drogon, her last dragon, burn down King's Landing in a fit of anger. Matters worsened in the series finale, when Daenerys was killed by her lover/nephew Jon Snow (Kit Harington).
Despite all that, Daenerys remains a beloved character for many. Even now, over one year after Game of Thrones' divisive finish, fans are envisioning Daenerys in new situations. This art piece, shared by crackerzak and created by wizyakuza, keeps Dany as the mother of dragons, though her children look decidedly different this time around. Now Daenerys has Pokémon dragons, like a surprisingly fierce-looking Dragonite.
Nothing's off-limits when it comes to fan art, especially in the realm of crossovers. A talented fan previously combined Avatar: The Last Airbender and Pokémon, and now the world of Game of Thrones has gotten the same treatment. Daenerys is particularly suited to this combo since she has a connection with her creatures not unlike how a Pokémon trainer might bond with theirs. The real question is: Which Pokémon would other Game of Thrones characters gravitate to?
Daenerys' Game of Thrones journey might be over, but House Targaryen will step into the spotlight for the upcoming prequel series House of the Dragon. Set hundreds of years before Daenerys' time, House of the Dragon will explore the history of the Targaryen family. Casting is currently underway, so it'll be a little while before the project hits the small screen. However, it does promise that Targaryens are going to stick around in pop culture for at least a little while longer; hopefully they'll have dragons with them too.
