New Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness fan art shows The Baby-Sitters Club's Xochitl Gomez as superpowered teen America Chavez.
Xochitl Gomez becomes America Chavez in new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness fan art. While many plot points are still unknown for Doctor Strange 2, the film will follow the titular Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) as he explores the greater multiverse. To that end, Doctor Strange 2 is set to premiere in March 2022, and fans are already eager to learn more.
America Chavez, aka Ms. America, will make her MCU debut in Doctor Strange 2. In the comics, America Chavez is from a dimension known as the "Utopian Parallel." America can not only open portals into the Multiverse and sense cosmic disruptions, but has been described as one of Marvel's most powerful characters. That being said, America has often been featured in many Marvel Multiverse stories as well. For instance, she's not only been part of the Young Avengers but has also lived on Arcadia following the collapse of the Multiverse.
New fan art by apexform shows Gomez as the superpowered teen. Gomez stands front and center, wearing a battered jean jacket with a striped shirt. Her eyes are glowing white, and she looks like she's just been in a fight. Behind her, the American flag stretches out on the right, as a nod to Gomez's fan-casting as America Chavez. In addition, Benedict Cumberbatch's face is superimposed in the background on the left. You can check out apexform's homage to America Chavez below:
While Gomez has reportedly joined the Doctor Strange 2 cast, it's still unclear what role she will play. Although many fans suspect that she's signed on to portray America Chavez, Marvel has remained radio silent thus far. To that end, while Gomez is perhaps best known as Dawn Schafer on Netflix's The Baby-Sitters Club, she's also appeared in Gentefied and Shadow Wolves. As such, Gomez may be young, but the actress has already shown that she has the acting chops to tackle just about any character. This, in turn, is just one of the many reasons why she would be a strong candidate to play America Chavez.
There are numerous roles that America Chavez could take on in Doctor Strange 2. For one, she may act as added muscle and help Doctor Strange face down a range of mystical threats. Another fan theory is that America will help Doctor Strange navigate the more unfamiliar parts of the greater Multiverse. Unfortunately, while there is plenty of speculation, fans will just have to wait for official plot details. That being said, it's good to know that Ms. America will play a part in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness -- and that Gomez may be the one taking on this complex, ultra-powerful character.
