Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, and Nick Stroller reunite to work on Platonic, a new Apple TV+ series that received a ten-episode order for season 1.
Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne team with director Nick Stoller for a new Apple TV+ comedy series, Platonic. Rogen, Byrne, and Stoller previously worked together on the hit comedy movie Neighbors. The film did well with audiences and even garnered a sequel, Neighbors 2.
According to Deadline, Rogen and Byrne will play opposite each other again in Platonic. The pair also serve as executive producers on the Apple TV+ series. Stoller also joins the project as a director and writer, along with his wife, Francesca Delbanco. The husband and wife duo also wrote, and executive produced Netflix's Friends From College. The series falls under Stoller's production company, Stoller Global Solutions', deal with Apple TV+. Sony Pictures Television will also produce the series.
Apple TV+ greenlit Platonic and ordered ten half-hour episodes. If the show makes it past Season 1, it will continue as an anthology series. While Season 1 will focus on Rogen's and Byrne's characters, each future season will feature a different pair. This will allow Byrne to concentrate on her other comedy series with Apple TV+, Physical.
Platonic explores the inner workings of platonic friendship. A pair of former best friends who met in their youth reconnect as adults and try to mend the rift that led to their falling out. As their friendship becomes more consuming, it destabilizes their lives and causes them to reevaluate their choices.
