The espionage-themed IMDb TV series Alex Rider will be returning for a second season. Based on the popular book series of the same name, written by Anthony Horowitz, the Alex Rider stories follow a teenage boy who is unexpectedly recruited by M16 to become a spy. Season 1, which is already available in the U.K., is premiering in the U.S. on November 13. This season chronicles events from the second book, Point Blanc. The series stars Otto Farrant as Alex Rider, as well as Stephen Dillane, Vicky McClure, and Andrew Buchan, among others.

Before the show even reached the U.S., Alex Rider has been renewed for another season. According to TV Line, the follow-up season will jump ahead to the series' fourth book, Eagle Strike. In this storyline, Alex is drawn into yet another twisted plot involving a suspicious musician, a killer video game, and the U.S. government. In a statement, Horowitz shared that Eagle Strike is one of his favorites of the series.

Alex Rider is jointly produced by Sony Pictures Television and Eleventh Hour Films. Season 1 premiered on Amazon Prime in the U.K., but for viewing in the U.S., it’s available on both IMDb TV and Amazon Prime Video. IMDb TV is a free streaming service recently acquired by Amazon Studios; Alex Rider is the first original series produced by IMDb since merging. The series was created by Guy Burt, with Horowitz serving as an executive producer.

So far, both critics and viewers are reacting positively to season 1. Alex Rider is being touted as a less violent Kingsman and also shows similarities to the James Bond films. Additionally, reviews have been overwhelmingly great compared to the book series’ only other adaptation—the 2006 film Stormbreaker, which left fans disappointed. Catch season 1 of Alex Rider in the U.S. starting November 13, and stay tuned for season 2.
