The Mandalorian actress Ming-Na Wen encouraged fans to petition to bring back her gunslinging character in future episodes of the show. Wen appeared in the first season's fifth episode as Fennec Shand. Mando joined forces with Toro Calican (Jake Cannavale) to capture Shand so that Calican could join The Guild. Things did not go according to plan and the three bounty hunters ended up facing off with each other on Tatooine.

Shand attempted to persuade Calican to join forces with her to capture Mando and cash in on the bounty that was placed on him. Calican then decided to shoot her and attempt to take the bounty on Mando and The Child for himself. Wen's character was left in a dire position, with a blaster shot to the stomach in the middle of the desert. That was the last appearance of Fennec Shand, despite the fact that the show has returned to Tatooine since.

Speaking to Insider, Wen asked fans to petition for her character's return, despite her seemingly doomed fate. Evoking the #CoulsonLives trend, Wen suggested fans use the hashtag #FennecLives in order to gain traction on social media. Wen also cited the fact that, despite the shot to the stomach, Fennec is not seen dying, which to her leaves the door open for her character's return.

I think they just announced they [were] picked up for season three. So I want you to start a petition, sort of like what they did with #CoulsonLives -#FennecLives. And that's the message you need to let those guys that are putting that show together know. We need the voices. We need your voices heard.

The potential for Shand to return is not necessarily zero, even when considering the position Wen's character was left in. Many characters in Star Wars have returned from much worse injuries. Darth Maul returned after being sliced in half by Obi-Wan Kenobi, and even Anakin Skywalker faced dire injuries at the end of Revenge of the Sith before returning to reign terror as Darth Vader. Boba Fett, who was last seen falling into the Sarlacc Pit, even made a brief appearance on the show, ahead of what many are expecting to be an integral role in the series.

Shand's return would be positive for a few reasons. She would be a formidable adversary for Mando, one that could allow the show to further explore the machinations of The Guild they are both apart of. It would also only add to the recent additions of characters like Bo-Katan (Katee Sackhoff) and Koska Reeves (Sasha Banks) and the impending introduction of Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson). With the end of her episode featuring a mysterious figure approaching her body, fans might not have seen the end of Fennec Shand yet. In fact, with Boba Fett's appearance on Tatooine at the end of season 2, episode 1, a possible team up between the two could be in The Mandalorian's future, pitting not one, but two elite assassins against Mando.
