WWE legend and Hall of Famer Mick Foley has urged Vince McMahon to throw Donald Trump out of the WWE Hall of Fame following yesterday’s horrific events at the US Capitol. Foley became one of WWE’s top stars during the company’s much-lauded ‘Attitude Era,’ and he’s also an acclaimed author, hitting number one on the New York Times bestsellers list for his first autobiography in 1999. In recent months, Foley has been a particularly vocal presence on social media when it comes to sharing his criticisms of Donald Trump, who was coincidentally inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame the same year as Foley in 2013. The wrestling legend even labeled Trump as “a person of indescribable cruelty” back in October.

Soon to be former President Trump has had a long association with WWE CEO Vince McMahon, as the Trump Plaza is still the only venue to host back-to-back WrestleMania’s in 1988 and 1989. In addition to that, Trump later appeared in a high profile feud with McMahon for WrestleMania 23, which was dubbed “The Battle of the Billionaires.” There were even reports that FOX wanted the President to appear on WWE's FOX debut in 2019. However, as the controversial figure's time as President of the United States comes to an end, Foley would also like to see his time as a WWE Hall of Famer come to an end as well.

Yesterday, a pro-Trump mob that had been encouraged by Trump himself attacked the US Capitol building in an attempt to somehow overturn the election result that saw Joe Biden win the election in November. Not only did Trump encourage the mob, but he later stated that he loved them, following their incredibly heinous actions that led to four people dying. Foley, who along with countless others in the wrestling community, made his anger at the situation known, as he even sent out a tweet, writing: “Hey Vince – how about throwing this sorry son of a b**** out of our Hall of Fame,” even tagging McMahon in the tweet. Former WWE star Gail Kim also supported the tweet by tweeting: “Do it @VinceMcMahon.” Full tweets can be seen below:

Justifiably, Foley is calling for the removal of Trump’s place in the WWE Hall of Fame, as the President actively supported a senseless act of terror that put countless lives in danger and only delayed the inevitable outcome of Congress certifying Biden as the next President. Although being removed from the WWE Hall of Fame is a small action in the grand scheme of things, it would serve McMahon’s company well to distance themselves from such actions. In the past, WWE has notably distanced themselves from people who have committed actions that put the company in a negative light, even temporarily removing Hulk Hogan from their Hall of Fame in 2015 after his racist remarks.

Trump’s potential removal would no doubt be supported by many wrestlers, which certainly includes new WWE Hall of Famer Dave Bautista, who has never been shy of criticizing Trump. Whether or not WWE listens to Foley remains to be seen, but it’s possible that people within the wrestling community will not let this slide as Foley requested for Trump’s removal so publicly. McMahon and co. would likely be best served to listen to Foley and remove Trump from the WWE Hall of Fame, as nobody should want to associate themselves with Trump after the terrible events.
