CBS Cancels All Rise and The Unicorn

CBS has canceled both All Rise and The Unicorn.All Rise, which followed an idealistic Los Angeles judge (played by Simone Missick) and the cases and personal lives of various courthouse figures, filmed just two seasons, with the second season set to conclude later this month. The Unicorn, which starred Walton Goggins as a recently widowed father trying to re-enter the dating scene, aired its second season finale earlier this year.

While The Unicorn seemed to be a victim of normal cancellation, All Rise did have some behind-the-scenes turmoil affecting it throughout its run. The series had seen most of the writing staff for the show leave after the first season, due to reported clashes with showrunner Greg Spottiswood regarding the show’s treatment of race and gender. Spottiswood was dismissed as showrunner earlier this year, but the show seemingly wasn’t doing well enough to continue.

Alongside the news of the cancellations, CBS announced that comedies United States of AI and B Positive have both been renewed for second seasons. Elsewhere, the company also announced that both SEAL Team and Clarice would be moving to Paramount+ at the beginning of their next seasons.
