Sweet Tooth Trailer Previews Netflix’s New Post-Apocalyptic Fairytale

Netflix has released the full Sweet Tooth trailer for Jim Mickle’s upcoming series adaptation of Jeff Lemire’s DC comic book of the same name. The video provides us a better idea of what to expect from this post-apocalyptic fairytale highlighting a hybrid who’s half-human and half-deer as he embarks on a dangerous journey toward a safe haven for hybrids, with the help of a gruff protector. Executive produced by Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey, the series is scheduled to make its debut on June 4, 2021. Check out the video in the player below!

Described as a family-friendly storybook adventure, Sweet Tooth centers around Gus — part deer, part boy — who leaves his home in the forest to find the outside world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. He joins a ragtag family of humans and animal-children hybrids like himself, searching for answers about this new world and the mystery behind his hybrid origins.

The series will be led by Christian Convery as Gus, Nonso Anozie as Tommy Jepperd, Adeel Akhtar as Dr. Singh, and Will Forte as Gus’s father along with James Brolin as the voice of the narrator. Joining them are Aliza Vellani, Stefania LaVie Owen, Dania Ramirez, and Neil Sandilands,

Sweet Tooth is created and directed by Jim Mickle from a screenplay he co-wrote with Beth Schwartz (Arrow), who are both serving as showrunners. Executive producers are Mickle, Schwartz, Team Downey’s Robert Downey Jr., Susan Downey, and Amanda Burrell, and Linda Moran, with Team Downey’s Evan Moore set as a producer.
