Netflix Releases Jupiter’s Legacy Cast, Orders Supercrooks Adaptation

Netflix is preparing to turn Mark Millar’s Jupiter’s Legacy into an anthology franchise, as Deadline is reporting that the company has ordered a live-action adaptation of Supercrooks while releasing the cast of Jupiter’s Legacy.

Supercrooks delves into the story of the Millarworld’s super-villains and is set to be the next installment in the Jupiter’s Legacy saga. The report also notes that Netflix has opted to no longer continue Jupiter’s Legacy, with Millar and the streaming platform reportedly unable to reach agreements in terms of creative direction with the IP. Netflix has thus opted to let the high-profile cast out of their commitments to the show.

In a statement to Deadline, Mark Millar said he was “confident” that they would be able to return to the world of Jupiter’s Legacy at a later time. In the meantime, an animated version of Supercrooks is set to release later this year, with Millar writing the series and Leinil Yu providing art.

Jupiter’s Legacy spans from the 1930s through to the present day and is based around the first generation of Superheroes, who rose to prominence after receiving their powers. Fast forward to the present day, the original heroes are revered as the elder guard, while the children of the fabled heroes are struggling to live up to their parent’s legacy and legendary feats.

The series stars Josh Duhamel (Transformers) as Sheldon Sampson/The Utopian, Ben Daniels (The Crown) as Walter Sampson/Brainwave, Leslie Bibb (The Babysitter: Killer Queen) as Grace Sampson/Lady Liberty, Elena Kampouris (Shoplifters of the World) as Chloe Sampson, Andrew Horton (It Came From the Desert) as Brandon Sampson/Paragon, Mike Wade (SEAL Team) as Fitz Small and Matt Lanter (Chasing the Rain) as George Hutchene/Skyfox.
