Kaley Cuoco & Pete Davidson in Talks to Lead Rom-Com Movie Meet Cute
According to Deadline, Golden Globe nominee Kaley Cuoco (The Flight Attendant) and The King of Staten Island star Pete Davidson are currently in negotiations for the leading roles in Alex Lehmann’s forthcoming romantic comedy feature titled Meet Cute. Should their deals push through, Cuoco would be playing the role of Sheila, while Davidson would portray the character of Gary.
Meet Cute is being described as a wildly inventive deconstruction of the romantic comedy genre that will be built around the question: What would you do if you could travel to your loved ones’ past, heal their traumas, fix their problems, and change them into the perfect partner? Further details about Cuoco and Davidson’s potential characters are still being kept under wraps.
The film will be directed by Alex Lehmann (Blue Jay) from a screenplay written by Noga Pnueli. It will be produced by Weed Road Pictures’ Akiva Goldsman, Gregory Lessans, and Rachel Reznick, along with Convergent Media’s Santosh Govindaraju and Dan Reardon.
Cuoco first gained recognition for her roles as Penny in CBS’ popular sitcom The Big Bang Theory, which run on-air for 12 seasons from 2007 to 2019. After the comedy series concluded its run, she went on to star in HBO Max’s series adaptation of The Flight Attendant, which she also serves as an executive producer through her Yes, Norman banner. The first gained positive reviews, with Cuoco earning her first Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. She will next be seen in the upcoming action-comedy The Man From Toronto as well as in The Flight Attendant Season 2, and the Harley Quinn Season 3.
Davidson has been a cast member on Saturday Night Live since 2014. His notable film credits include: Trainwreck, Set It Up, Big Time Adolescence, and The King of Staten Island. He will next be seen in James Gunn’s upcoming The Suicide Squad film which is set to arrive in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6.
