Laurie Holden Cast as Crimson Countess in The Boys Season 3

According to Variety, The Walking Dead alum Laurie Holden has officially been tapped for a recurring role in the upcoming third season of Amazon Prime Video’s hit superhero series The Boys. https://i0.wp.com/storage.waploaded.com/images/7c62e162646f3fa11af283d5e1626f25.jpgHolden will be playing a Supe known as Crimson Countess, who is a parody of Marvel’s Scarlet Witch. In the comics, the character has a connection with Soldier Boy, portrayed by Jensen Ackles in the new season, as they are both part of the superhero group Payback.

This marks Holden’s first TV project in nearly two years since starring in Fox’s Proven Innocent series in 2019. Her other notable TV credits include The X-Files, The Magnificent Seven, The Shield, and The Americans.

The Boys is an irreverent take on what happens when superheroes, who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about the supergroup known as “The Seven.” The show retains most of the comics (available for purchase here) boundary-pushing violence and sexuality while exploring the dark side of superhero celebrity and fame.

The series stars Jack Quaid, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, and Karl Urban along with Erin Moriarty, Antony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford, Nathan Mitchell, Claudia Doumit and Colby Minifie. Season 3 will also feature the introduction of Jensen Ackles as the infamous Soldier Boy and Katia Winter as Little Nina along with Miles Gaston Villaneuva as Supersonic, Sean Patrick Flanery as Gunpowder, and Nick Wechsler as Blue Hawk.

The Boys is created by Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, who are responsible for another subversive comic book-inspired series, AMC’s Preacher, and Supernatural creator Eric Kripke.

Season 1 and Season 2 are available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
