Tom Hardy Is Trying to Make a Spider-Man and Venom Crossover Happen

Spider-Man and Venom are no strangers to each other in the world of comics, with the two iconic characters having a long history together.https://i0.wp.com/storage.waploaded.com/images/f65a227dcf560fb6c361205371e04dbe.jpg In the live-action movie world, though, the two have only met once, and Tom Hardy would love to change that one day.

Speaking to Esquire in a new interview ahead of Venom: Let There Be Carnage’s release, Hardy spoke about the possibility of a crossover between the two characters, and said that he’s been trying to make one happen for some time now.

“I would be remiss if I wasn’t trying to steer any kind of connectivity. I wouldn’t be doing the job if I wasn’t awake and open to any opportunity or eventuality or be excited by that,” Hardy said.

Unfortunately for Hardy, he knows that it’s going to take a lot for something like that to happen, and is going to require more than just himself petitioning for it to occur.

“Obviously, that’s a large canyon to leap, to be bridged by one person alone, and it would take a much higher level of diplomacy and intelligence, sitting down and talking, to take on an arena such as that,” said Hardy. “Should both sides be willing and it be beneficial to both sides, I don’t see why it couldn’t be.”

Venom: Let There Be Carnage sees the return of Tom Hardy as the lethal protector Venom, one of Marvel’s most complex characters. Joining are Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, Woody Harrelson as the maniacal serial killer Cletus Kasady/Carnage, and Naomie Harris as Frances Barrison/Shriek. It will also feature Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Peggy Lu.

Andy Serkis is directing the sequel, which features a screenplay written by Kelly Marcel and is based on a story by Hardy and Marcel. Producers are Hardy, Marcel, Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, and Hutch Parker.

Ruben Fleischer directed the original 2018 Venom film. It also starred Riz Ahmed as Carlton Drake/Riot. Despite receiving negative reviews from critics, the film had still earned a worldwide gross of over $800 million.
