Sony Moves Venom: Let There Be Carnage Release Up Two Weeks

Sony’s highly-anticipated sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage is releasing two weeks earlier than its previous date, according to The Hollywood Reporter.https://i0.wp.com/storage.waploaded.com/images/7f64078b90e9535dac163c1308a5fe94.jpg The film will now debut on October 1 instead of October 15, opening against Warner Bros.’ Sopranos prequel The Many Saints of Newark and United Artists’ The Addams Family 2.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage sees the return of Tom Hardy “as the lethal protector Venom, one of Marvel’s most complex characters,” according to the synopsis. “Directed by Andy Serkis, the film also stars Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, and Woody Harrelson, in the role of the villain Cletus Kasady/Carnage.”

The sequel, written by Kelly Marcel from a story by Marcel and Hardy, will also star Reid Scott as Dr. Dan Lewis, Peggy Lu as Mrs. Chen, and BAFTA nominee Stephen Graham as Detective Mulligan.

Based on the Marvel character created by Todd McFarlane, David Michelinie, Randy Schueller, Roger Stern, Tom DeFalco, Mike Zeck, and Ron Frenz, Venom: Let There Be Carnage is produced by Hardy, Marcel, Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, and Hutch Parker.

Debuting in 2018, Venom was directed by Ruben Fleischer. It also starred Riz Ahmed as Carlton Drake/Riot. Despite receiving negative reviews from critics, the film earned a worldwide gross of over $800 million.
