There was a huge piece of news in the movie industry this week with Ridley Scott announcing that there will be a second installment of the Gladiator film which was hugely popular with Russell Crowe as the lead.
Scott 's work was initially inspired by the Roman Empire and it's likely that the sequel will follow that line too, with it likely to be set around 25-30 years after the original.
"I'm already having the next Gladiator written now," Scott told Empire magazine. "So when I've done Napoleon, Gladiator will be ready to go."
There is no word yet on the cast or even the layout of the plot, although Scott is currently busy working on his newest project, a film called about Napoleon Bonaparte which stars Joaquin Phoenix and Jodie Comer.
Filming on the second Gladiator film will begin in late 2022 or early 2023 and there is hope it will be as successful as the original, which won five Oscars back in the year 2001.
