As production continues on the Love & Death miniseries in Texas, HBO Max has unveiled the first-look photos for the forthcoming true-crime drama, centering around axe-murderer Candy Montgomery, who killed her friend Betty Gore in 1980. The series is currently set to make its debut sometime in 2022.
The Love & Death photos provide us with our first look at Emmy-nominated actress Elizabeth Olsen’s leading performance as a churchgoing suburban housewife-turned-killer, Candy Montgomery.
Love and Death will center around two church-going couples, enjoying small-town family life in Texas, until somebody picks up an axe. It is based on the book titled Evidence of Love: A True Story of Passion and Death in the Suburbs and a collection of articles from Texas Monthly (“Love & Death in Silicon Prairie,” Part I & II).
The limited series will star Elizabeth Olsen (WandaVision) as Candy Montgomery, Jesse Plemons (Jungle Cruise) as Allan Gore, Lily Rabe (American Horror Story) as Betty Gore, Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) as Sherry Cleckler, Patrick Fugit (Outcast) as Pat Montgomery, Keir Gilchrist (Atypical) as Pastor Ron Adams, Elizabeth Marvel (House of Cards) as Pastor Jackie Ponder, and Tom Pelphrey (Ozark) as Don Crowder.
Love and Death will be written and executive produced by David E. Kelley (The Undoing) through his David E. Kelly Productions banner, with Lesli Linka Glatter (Mad Men) set to direct. Executive producers are Glatter, Nicole Kidman, and Per Saari through Blossom Films, Scott Brown and Megan Creydt through Texas Monthly, Matthew Tinker, Michael Klick, and Helen Verno. Lionsgate will produce the limited series.
Interestingly, Universal Content Productions and Hulu are also currently preparing for the production of a new limited series based on Candy Montgomery, with Jessica Biel attached for the leading role.
