Apple TV+ has announced that they’ve officially renewed Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day’s hit comedy series Mythic Quest for two more seasons, with writer’s room for the third season set to open later this year. The renewal comes after over five months since the series had debuted its 9-episode second season, which currently holds a 100% Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The announcement also came with a hilarious video, which you can check out below, featuring a funny exchange between McElhenney, and Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins, whose guest-starring voice appearance in the last season had earned him an Emmy award for Outstanding Narrator. It also featured Emmy winner Jason Sudeikis, who unbelievably tells Hopkins that he has to audition first before he could guest star in Ted Lasso.
Mythic Quest hails from creators and executive producers Megan Ganz, Charlie Day and Rob McElhenney, who is also leading the series as Ian Grimm. The series follows a team behind the biggest multiplayer video game of all time.
“Just like critics and audiences all over the world, we fell in love with Rob and his team’s sharp writing and full-of-heart, relatable characters that make up the world of Mythic Quest,” Apple TV+’s head of programming, Matt Cherniss said in a statement. “We can’t wait for viewers to see what’s in store in the upcoming seasons of this brilliant workplace comedy.”
Joining McElhenney are Academy Award-winner F. Murray Abraham, Danny Pudi, Imani Hakim, Charlotte Nicdao, Ashly Burch, Jessie Ennis, and David Hornsby, who also executive produces. Additional cast includes Naomi Ekperigin, Caitlin McGee, Humphrey Ker, Chris Naoki Lee, and Jonathan Wiggs.
Mythic Quest is executive produced by Michael Rotenberg and Nicholas Frenkel on behalf of 3Arts, Jason Altman, Danielle Kreinik, and Gérard Guillemot for Ubisoft Film and Television and Hornsby, while Apple TV+ by Lionsgate, 3 Arts Entertainment and Ubisoft all produce.
