The 100 Prequel Series No Longer in the Works

A spin-off from the hit CW series The 100 has been in the works for years but is now officially done.

According to a report from Deadline, the prequel series is now officially no longer in the works, ending a two-year development run. The idea for a prequel started as a backdoor pilot episode that occurred during the seventh and final season of The 100 and was later greenlit in 2019 by the company.

Unfortunately for the series, things stalled from there. The series wasn’t picked up for series in 2020, and the latest idea for the spin-off — a joint run on the CW and HBO Max — continued throughout the year but was ultimately ended.

It’s unclear what the prequel series would have focused on exactly, but Iola Evans, Adain Bradley, and Leo Howard all appeared in the backdoor pilots. However, their options expired a year and a half ago. The series was set to come from Jason Rothenberg, who developed and acted as showrunner on The 100.
