According to Deadline, Norwegian filmmaker André Øvredal has officially signed on to direct eOne’s high concept thriller film titled Tarot.
The company successfully acquired the project in a competitive auction from scribes Jason Pagan and Andrew Deutschman, who are best known for their works on Project Almanac and Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension.
Further details about the plot for Tarot and its characters are being kept under wraps. Fuller Media’s Brad Fuller and Alex Ginno have already entered final negotiations to serve producer and executive producer, respectively. Jillian Share, Laurel Thomson, and Cyrus Shaki-Khan are set to oversee in behalf of eOne.
André Øvredal is best known for his feature directorial debut film Trollhunter and the 2016 supernatural horror film The Autopsy of Jane Doe. He also directed Guillermo del Toro’s live-action adaptation of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.
The filmmaker is currently in post-production for Amblin Entertainment’s The Last Voyage of the Demeter, based on a single chilling chapter titled “The Captain’s Log,” from Bram Stoker’s classic novel Dracula. It will star David Dastmalchian, Liam Cunningham, Aisling Franciosi, Corey Hawkins, and more.
