Netflix debuted the official The Cuphead Show trailer and release date ahead of its February debut. Based on the successful video game, the animated series was originally announced back in 2019. The show will premiere on February 18, 2022.

Cuphead, which was released in 2017, sports a look inspired by the classic Max Fleischer cartoons from the 1930s and has sold over 4 million copies since then. It also took home Best Indie Game at the 2017 Game Awards as well as a BAFTA Games award. The show takes a similar approach.

The Cuphead Show “follows the unique misadventures of loveable, impulsive scamp Cuphead and his cautious but easily swayed brother Mugman.”

The series will be executive produced by C.J. Kettler (Carmen Sandiego) on behalf of King Features, while the brothers that created Cuphead, Chad and Jared Moldenhauer, will serve as executive producers for Studio MDHR. Emmy and Annie award winner Dave Wasson (Mickey Mouse Shorts) will also executive produce. Cosmo Segurson (Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling) will also serve as co-executive producer, while Netflix animation will produce.
