Jake Gyllenhaal to Star in Heist Thriller Cut & Run

Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star in and produce Cut & Run, an upcoming heist thriller that will see Gyllenhaal take part in heists on the open sea.

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, the film will come from a spec script written by John Glenn, with Brian Oliver and Bradley Fischer’s New Regency grabbing the rights to the film. Gyllenhaal is set to produce the movie through his Nine Stories Productions company, with Oliver, Fisher, and Glenn also attached as producers.

Not too much is known about the upcoming film, but the logline for Cut & Run teases what looks to be a huge thriller that takes place on the open water. “A group of thieves using high-powered speedboats to rob superyachts steal the wrong thing from the wrong group of people.”

Gyllenhaal was busy in 2021, starring in both the animated feature Spirit Untamed, as well as the Netflix thriller The Guilty, the latter of which Gyllenhaal produced. Next up for the film is the latest Michael Bay film Ambulance, which Gyllenhaal will star in alongside Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
