Netflix’s Heart of Stone: Bollywood Star Alia Bhatt Joins Gal Gadot as Production Begins on Spy Film

Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot took to Twitter to confirm that production on her next Netflix film Heart of Stone has officially begun. She also shared the first behind-the-scenes photos from the set, providing us with our first look at Gadot’s leading character Rachel Stone.

In addition, Deadline brings word that acclaimed Bollywood star Alia Bhatt (Gangubai Kathiawadi) has signed on for an undisclosed role in the spy thriller film, making this her first major Hollywood project. She will be joining Gadot and previously announced cast member Jamie Dornan (Belfast).

Heart of Stone is being directed by Tom Harper (The Aeronauts) from a screenplay co-written by Allison Schroeder and Greg Rucka, who made his screenwriting film debut with the Netflix film adaptation of his popular fantasy graphic novel series The Old Guard.

Plot details about the film are still being kept under wraps but the outlet’s sources described the project as something similar to blockbuster action franchises like James Bond and Mission: Impossible.

The film is produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger with Granger and Goldberg overseeing the project on behalf of the studio. Producers are Gadot, Jaron Varsano, Bonnie Curtis, and Julie Lynn through their Pilot Wave banner, with Harper, Rucka, and Patty Whitcher serving as executive producers.

Gadot most recently starred in Netflix’s all-star spy film Red Notice and 20th Century Studios’ second Hercule Poirot film Death on the Nile. She will next be seen in a number of high-profile films including Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3, Paramount’s epic drama Cleopatra, and Disney’s live-action Snow White film.
