Deadpool 3: Shawn Levy in Talks to Direct Marvel Film Starring Ryan Reynolds
Oscar nominee Shawn Levy (Arrival, Stranger Things) is in talks to direct Marvel Studios’ Deadpool 3 with Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Levy and Reynolds previously worked together on Free Guy and Netflix’s recently released The Adam Project.
The script for Deadpool 3 is being written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The previous draft was scripted by Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin (Bob’s Burgers). The first two films, Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018) were penned by Reese and Wernick.
Deadpool 3 will serve as the first movie in the film series that will release following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. A release date for the movie has not yet been released.
The first two Deadpool films were both box-office successes as they earned a combined worldwide gross of over $1.5 billion. Based on the Marvel character created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld, the first film was directed by Tim Miller, and Deadpool 2 was directed by David Leitch.
