This news isn’t entirely shocking as executive producer Amy Pascal previously stated that a third film in the Tom Hardy-led franchise was in the “planning stages right now.” However, now we know that it is fully in development and will be made by the studio. No details were given about the follow-up of Venom: Let There Be Carnage, though obviously, Hardy will return as Eddie Brock/Venom.

F0llowing its theatrical release on October 1, Venom: Let There Be Carnage broke pandemic box office records by becoming this year’s second highest-grossing film in the U.S. with a domestic gross of over $200 million and a worldwide gross of over $480 million.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage was directed by Andy Serkis from a screenplay written by Kelly Marcel, based on a story by Tom Hardy and Marcel. It features the return of an Oscar-nominated actor as the titular lethal protector.

The sequel also starred returning cast members, Michelle Williams, Reid Scott, and Peggy Lu. It also featured the introduction of Woody Harrelson as the maniacal serial killer Cletus Kasady/Carnage, Naomie Harris as Frances Barrison/Shriek, and Stephen Graham as Detective Mulligan.
