Migos’ Quavo to Star in Action Thriller Takeover

Rapper Quavo is set to star in an upcoming feature film focusing on Atlanta’s street takeover car culture, according to a recent report from Deadline.

The film, titled Takeover, will be written by Jeb Stuart, whose résumé includes writing Die Hard and The Fugitive, with Brandon Easton (Marvel’s Agent Carter) also attached as a writer.

Takeover will be directed by Greg Jonkajtys, who most recently directed Netflix’s hybrid drama The Liberator. The film will come from Quality Films, the production arm of the record label and management company Quality Control, as well as Trioscope, the company behind The Liberator.

According to the report, Quavo will play the role of Guy Miller, a recent parolee who is attempting to rehabilitate his life, but finds himself thrown back into the world of Atlanta’s thriving and seedy takeover scene. The report also mentions that the film will explore the concept of “sideshows,” an act in car culture where drivers take over streets and parking lots to perform tricks.

Trioscope plans to use its proprietary animation technique to fuse live-action performances with animation in order to capture and show off the tricks, the report mentions.

Although his acting history isn’t incredibly extensive, Quavo does have a few acting credits under his belt, including appearances in the hit television series’ Atlanta, Black-ish, and Ballers. Most recently, Quavo appeared in a 2020 episode of Narcos: Mexico.
