According to Deadline, Emmy winner Jodie Comer has officially signed on for the leading role in the upcoming apocalyptic thriller drama titled The End We Start From, which hails from executive producer Benedict Cumberbatch. The film is based on Megan Hunter’s acclaimed book of the same name.
The End We Start From will be directed by Mahalia Bello from a screenplay by Alice Birch (Succession). It is produced by Leah Clarke, Adam Ackland, Liza Marshall, Sophie Hunter, and Amy Jackson. Executive producers are Cumberbatch, Comer, Anton’s Sébastien Raybaud and Cecile Gaget, and Eva Yates.
“Set amid an environmental crisis that sees London submerged by flood waters, the feminist survival story focuses on a young family torn apart in the chaos,” reads the synopsis. “Comer will play a mother who with her new-born child tries to find a way home, navigating the most challenging and apocalyptic start to motherhood.”
Comer is best known for her acclaimed performance as Villanelle in BBC One’s thriller dramedy Killing Eve, which just wrapped up its fourth and final season. She will next be seen in HBO’s sex therapy series Big Swiss, which is produced by Adam McKay.
