Scream 6 Cast Confirms 4 Returning Actors

After surviving through the fifth installment in the Scream series, the main cast of 2022’s Scream is mostly all set to return for Scream 6, according to a report from Variety.

Melissa Barrera, Jasmon Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, and Jenna Ortega are all set to reprise their roles in the upcoming sixth installment in the iconic horror film franchise. Not too much is known about the film as of yet, but Variety noted that the film will focus on the four leaving the town of Woodsboro behind and attempting to start a fresh chapter, although that’s unlikely to be successful.

Barrera and Ortega starred in Scream as Sam and Tara Carpenter, respectively, sisters who are thrown into the middle of the latest Ghostface chaos after Tara is attacked to open the film. During the film, it’s revealed that Barrera’s Sam is actually the biological daughter of Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich), the original Ghostface killer in the first Scream. Gooding and Brown play siblings Chad and Mindy Meeks-Martin, who are also related to Scream‘s Randy Meeks, who was played by Jamie Kennedy.

Production on the sixth film is set to begin in early summer 2022, with the film targeting a March 31, 2023 release date. Alongside the returning cast, Scream 6 will also see the directors of Scream return, with Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett stepping back into the franchise after the success of the fifth film.

2022’s Scream starred returning vets Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Marley Shelton. They were joined by franchise newcomers Jack Quaid (The Boys), Melissa Barrera (Vida), Jenna Ortega (The Babysitter: Killer Queen), Mason Gooding (Booksmart), Dylan Minnette (13 Reasons Why), Kyle Gallner (Ghosts of War), Jasmin Savoy Brown (The Leftovers) and Mikey Madison (Better Things).

The first film, released in 1996, was a surprise smash upon its debut, helping to revive the horror genre for the decade and becoming the highest-grossing slasher movie of all time until it was dethroned by last year’s Halloween reboot. The first’s success spawned a franchise that includes three sequels, the first of which remained equally as successful as the first while the previous two saw middling box office returns and mixed reviews.
