After originally being announced in 2018, the Alan Wake television series, based on the video game of the same name, has received an exciting update.

Game developers Remedy has announced that AMC will be working alongside the studio to make the show a reality, after the network behind Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead bought the rights to the TV series. Given the sparse updates since the show’s announcement, this partnership is a good sign for the its progress.

The announcement comes nearly 12 years to the day since the original Alan Wake game came out, as it first launched for the Xbox 360 on May 14, 2010

Alan Wake follows fictitious best-selling author Alan Wake (Matthew Porretta) on a journey to a small town in Washington state where he hopes to rid himself of prolonged writer’s block. What follows is an increasingly surreal experience that seems to bring the plot from his last novel — which he has no memory of writing — to life. On a search for his missing wife, Wake begins to question his own sanity. How closely the television adaptation will stick to this story is currently unclear.
