Report: Frank Ocean in Negotiations With A24 for Directorial Film Debut
According to Discussing Film, Grammy winner Frank Ocean has reportedly entered negotiations with A24 and 2AM for his untitled feature directorial debut, which he is also expected to write.
Ocean is no stranger to directing as he previously helmed a 46-minute performance for his visual album Endless in 2016.
Ocean is considered one of the best artists of this modern generation. He’s best known for his hit songs “Godspeed,” “Pyramids,” “Chanel,” and more. Before making his official debut with the 2011 single “Novacane,” Ocean first worked as a ghostwriter under the pseudonym of Lonny Breaux for acclaimed artists such as Beyoncé and John Legend.
So far, he has only released four studio albums including Nostalgia Ultra, Channel Orange, Endless, and Blonde, with the second one earning him his first Grammy Award for Best Urban Contemporary Album.
Should the deal go forward, Julia Oh and David Hinojosa are expected to oversee the project for 2AM, a new production company that currently has only two films under its belt including the slasher comedy Bodies, Bodies, Bodies and the drama film Past Lives, which are both also produced by A24.
