The Duffer Brothers Tease Time Jump for Stranger Things Season 5

In a recent interview with TVLine, the Duffer brothers confirmed that they’re planning to do a time jump for Stranger Things‘ fifth season in order to address its young main cast’s current ages.

“I’m sure we will do a time jump,” Ross Duffer said. “Ideally, we’d have shot [Seasons 4 and 5] back to back, but there was just no feasible way to do that.”

They also went on to reveal that even though the fifth season is already “pretty well mapped out,” the writing still hasn’t started yet because they’re still finishing the “massive” final two episodes of season four.

“So these are all discussions we’re going to have with our writers when we start the room up,” Ross continues. “Believe it or not, we’re still working on Season 4. We’re trying to finish the final two episodes, they’re so massive.”

Stranger Things is set in the 1980s in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. When a young boy vanishes, a small town uncovers a mystery involving secret experiments, terrifying supernatural forces, and one strange little girl.

The series currently stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Charlie Heaton, Sadie Sink, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Cara Buono, and Brett Gelman.

Stranger Things Season 4 also introduces a number of new characters including Nightmare on Elm Street star Robert Englund, Jamie Campbell Bower, Eduardo Franco, Joseph Quinn, Sherman Augustus, Mason Dye, Nikola Djuricko, Tom Wlaschiha, Myles Truitt, Regina Ting Chen, Grace Van Dien, and Amybeth McNulty.

Stranger Things is created and executive produced by Matt and Ross Duffer, who also serve as showrunners. Executive producers are Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, and Iain Patterson.

Season four, volume one is now available for streaming exclusively on Netflix.
