According to Deadline, Oscar winners Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are once again reuniting following last year’s biographical drama Being the Ricardos. The two have officially signed on to lend their voices to Apple Original Films and Skydance Animation’s upcoming fantasy animated film, Spellbound.
Kidman and Bardem will be voicing the parents of Rachel Zegler’s Princess Ellian, with Kidman portraying the kind and just, yet hyper-precise Queen of Lumbria, while Bardem is set as Lumbria’s boastful yet big-hearted King Solon.
Additional cast also includes John Lithgow as royal advisor Minister Bolinar, Jenifer Lewis as royal advisor Minister Nazara Prone, Nathan Lane and André De Shields as The Oracles of the Sun and Moon that Ellian seeks out to break the spell on her parents and the kingdom, and Jordan Fisher as Callan — a young nomad.
Spellbound is an animated musical that follows the story of a young girl who must break the spell that has split her kingdom in two. The film is directed by Vicky Jenson (Shrek) from a script co-written by Mulan‘s Lauren Hynek and Elizabeth Martin, along with Linda Woolverton (The Lion King).
Spellbound will feature music from Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken, which will reunite him with long-time collaborators and fellow Grammy-winners, lyricist Glenn Slater and former Walt Disney Music President Chris Montan, who all worked together on The Little Mermaid and Tangled.
