Universal Studios to Debut The Horrors of Blumhouse at Halloween Horror Nights

Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights is getting a double dose of Blumhouse later this year, as the company has announced that it will be creating a haunted house based on two big Blumhouse properties.

The new haunted house, titled “The Horrors of Blumhouse,” will feature designs based on the upcoming horror film The Black Phone, as well as the horror comedy film Freaky. The new attraction will begin at Universal Orlando Resort on September 2, and will arrive at Universal Studios Hollywood just under a week later on September 8.

The area designed around The Black Phone will find guests being trapped in the “fun” house of “The Grabber,” a demented magician played by Ethan Hawke in the upcoming film. Inside the house, guests will have to outwit and outrun The Grabber, while listening for ghostly voices that whisper help on how to get out.

In the section designed around Freaky, guests will need to outrun “The Butcher” (played by Vince Vaughn in the film), who has switched bodies with a high school girl. Tickets for the upcoming Halloween Horror Nights are now on sale at Universal Studios Hollywood, with a variety of options — including General Admission, Universal Express, premium tours, and more — all available to pick from. The prices range from $72 to $449 depending on the package and date (October also seems to be more expensive).

The Black Phone is set to release on June 24, 2022, and stars Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, and Madeleine McGraw. Freaky released two years ago on November 13, 2020, and starred Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton in a horror-themed twist on the film Freaky Friday.
