Will Ferrell & Reese Witherspoon to Lead Amazon's Wedding Comedy Pic

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Golden Globe nominee Will Ferrell and Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon have signed on for the leading roles in Amazon Studios’ untitled wedding comedy, which hails from Nick Stoller. Amazon successfully nabbed the rights to the project following a bidding war against other streamers.

The untitled wedding comedy will be directed and written by Nick Stoller, who is best for his work on comedy films such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall and the Neighbors films. He is also directing the upcoming romantic comedy Bros. Further details about the upcoming project is still be kept under wraps, but the outlet notes that it might involve two weddings which are booked in the same venue during the same time.

It is produced by Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum for Gloria Sanchez, Stoller and Connor Welch for Global Solutions, and Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine. It is executive produced by Ashley Strumwasser.

Ferrell will next be seen in two other high-profile films such as Apple’s musical comedy Spirited and Greta Gerwig’s live-action Barbie movie. Meanwhile, Witherspoon will star in her first romantic comedy film in a long time Your Place or Mine for Netflix.
