New footage was shown off for the upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion during Marvel’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, including a release date and new logo.
During the Marvel Studios Hall H presentation, footage was shown off from the highly anticipated upcoming series. According to those in attendance, the brief sizzle reel included Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury returning from space and meeting with Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) before a litany of shots showed off the impending invasion of Earth at the hands of the Skrull alien race.
Alongside the new footage, Secret Invasion was confirmed to be released in the spring of 2023. While no concrete release date has been shared, the series will be a part of the beginning of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 5, along with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which premieres in February of 2023.
Disney+’s Secret Invasion is set as a crossover comic event series showcasing a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years. It will be led by MCU mainstay Samuel L. Jackson as he reprises his role as Nick Fury for the twelfth time in live-action since first portraying the character in 2008’s Iron Man. He will be teaming up with Captain Marvel‘s Ben Mendelsohn, who is returning as Talos, the pseudo-leader of the Skrulls.
Based on Brian Michael Bendis, Leinil Francis Yu, Mark Morales, and Laura Martin’s comic book series, Secret Invasion is executive produced by Kyle Bradstreet (Mr. Robot), with Let Him Go director Thomas Bezucha and Ali Selim (The Looming Tower) set as directors.
