Ryan Gosling and Joe and Anthony Russo are planned to return for the sequel, alongside the first film’s co-writer Stephen McFeely. It will be produced by the Russos and Mike Larocca through their AGBO banner, as well as Roth Kirschenbaum Films’ Joe Roth and Jeffrey Kirschenbaum.

There’s less information currently available about the spin-off, but it is currently set to be written by Deadpool scribes Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.

“With so many amazing characters in the movie, we had always intended for The Gray Man to be part of an expanded universe, and we are thrilled that Netflix is announcing a sequel with Ryan,” the Russos stated.

Based on Mark Greaney’s 2009 novel, The Gray Man centers around a freelance assassin and former CIA operative named Court Gentry. Due to the betrayal of his own agency, he has been forced to become a fugitive. The action thriller adaptation is described as a deadly duel between killers as Gentry is hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen, a former cohort of Gentry’s at the CIA.
