The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 Trailer: Some Sins Can’t Be Washed Away

Hulu has finally released full trailer for the upcoming fifth season of its acclaimed drama The Handmaid’s Tale, teasing the incoming intense showdown between June and Serena. The series is scheduled to return on September 14.

The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 trailer highlights the aftermath following Fred’s death as June tries to deal with the consequences of what she have done. Meanwhile, this incident has made Serena and Gilead hellbent on putting June once in for all. The video also teases another very emotional and chaotic installment for the award-winning drama.

The series is adapted from the award-winning, best-selling novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood. It currently stars Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actress Elisabeth Moss, as well as Yvonne Strahovski, Samira Wiley, Ann Dowd, Max Minghella, Madeline Brewer, O-T Fagbenle, and Amanda Brugel.

“June faces consequences for killing Commander Waterford while struggling to redefine her identity and purpose,” reads the synopsis. “The widowed Serena attempts to raise her profile in Toronto as Gilead’s influence creeps into Canada. Commander Lawrence works with Nick and Aunt Lydia as he tries to reform Gilead and rise in power. June, Luke, and Moira fight Gilead from a distance as they continue their mission to save and reunite with Hannah.”

The Handmaid’s Tale comes to Hulu from MGM Television and is created, executive produced, and written by Bruce Miller. The show is executive produced by Warren Littlefield, Elisabeth Moss, Daniel Wilson, Fran Sears, and Ilene Chaiken. Margaret Atwood serves as a co-executive producer for season three of the series. MGM serves as the international distributor for the series.

Since its premiere in April 2017, The Handmaid’s Tale has gone on to become the first series ever on a streaming video-on-demand service to take both the Golden Globe and Emmy Award for Best Drama Series. The Handmaid’s Tale is an eight-time Emmy Award-winning drama series and has garnered more than 30 prestigious awards to date, including a 2018 Peabody Award. The series has gone on to become the streaming service’s most-viewed series debut and its most critically successful to date.
