House of the Dragon Green Screen Mistake to Be Fixed by HBO

The world of Game of Thrones is no stranger to visual effects goofs, and in the latest episode of House of the Dragon, another one popped up that HBO has vowed to fix.

In season one, episode three of House of the Dragon, “Second of His Name,” a brief moment in which King Viserys is handing a letter to a soldier has an issue that fans quickly spotted. In an image that has since gone viral on Twitter (via Variety), viewers noticed that the king’s fourth and fifth fingers were completely green, with the visual effects for his hand being unfinished.

For those unaware of the reason behind the need for visual effects on his hand, in the series premiere, Viserys cuts his finger while sitting upon the Iron Throne. Throughout the years, this has had a bad effect on his fingers, with the king losing his pinky and ring finger on his left hand as a result. However, fans won’t have long to notice the issue, as HBO says it plans on fixing the episode on its streaming platforms.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon chronicles the rise and the downfall of the Targaryens, who are the only family of dragonlords to survive the Doom of Valyria. It takes place 300 years before the events of the award-winning series adaptation of Game of Thrones, which aired its final episode nearly two years ago.

The 10-episode series is being led by Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, and Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. It will also feature Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Milly Alcock, Emily Carey, Graham McTavish, Ryan Corr, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Matthew Needham, Bill Patterson, Gavin Spokes, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Savannah Steyn, and Theo Nate.

House of the Dragon hails from George R.R. Martin, Ryan Condal, and Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik, with Condal and Sapochnik also attached to serve as showrunners. Executive producers are Martin, Sapochnik, Condal, Vince Gerardis, and Sara Lee Hess.
