When to Watch the American Gigolo Premiere on Showtime
Showtime set the American Gigolo premiere release date at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Sunday, September 11. David Hollander directed and wrote the series premiere which is titled simply “Pilot.” The Punisher alum Jon Bernthal is portraying Julian Kaye.
“After 15 years in prison, former gigolo Julian Kaye is suddenly exonerated from a wrongful murder conviction and released with no interest in the life he had, no chance at the life he wanted – and no idea who framed him,” reads the synopsis for the series premiere.
Joining Bernthal are Gretchen Mol (Boardwalk Empire) as Michelle, a character previously portrayed by Lauren Hutton in the original, Rosie O’Donnell (SMILF) as homicide Detective Sunday, Lizzie Brocheré (Falling Water) as sex work ring heiress Isabelle, Gabriel LaBelle (Dead Shack) as a younger version of Julian named Johnny, Leland Orser (Ray Donovan) as Richard Stratton, a self-made tech billionaire, and guest star Wayne Brady (The Wayne Brady Show) as Lorenzo, Julian’s best friend and mentor.
Hollander originally developed American Gigolo before leaving the project last April following his misconduct allegations. Original film producer Jerry Bruckheimer is producing alongside Jonathan Littman and KristieAnne Reed. Bernthal is also serving as a producer. It is a production by Paramount Television Studios.
