As production begins on The Beekeeper in the UK, Deadline brings word that Miramax has welcomed the addition of four new cast members who’ll be joining Jason Statham in his next action thriller movie.
This includes The Hunger Games alum Josh Hutcherson, The Umbrella Academy star Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi (Under the Shadow), and Oscar winning actor Jeremy Irons. Further details about their characters are still being kept under wraps
Described as a fast-paced action thriller, The Beekeeper “follows a man’s personal journey of vengeance which takes on national stakes after he is revealed to be a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organization known as the Beekeepers,” reads the synopsis.
The film is being directed by David Ayer from a screenplay written by Kurt Wimmer. It will be produced by Statham and Wimmer, along with Bill Block for Miramax and Chris Long for Cedar Park Studios.
Statham will next be seen in forthcoming action sequels The Expendables 4, Meg 2: The Trench, and Fast X. Ayer was first recognized for writing Antoine Fuqua’s crime drama Training Day and 2001’s The Fast and the Furious. His directorial film credits include Street Kings, End of Watch, Fury, Bright, and The Tax Collector.
