Monster & The Watcher: Ryan Murphy Shows Nab Netflix Renewals

Netflix has officially ordered two more seasons of producer and creator Ryan Murphy’s true crime anthology drama Monster. The renewal comes after the successful and record-breaking debut of its first season Dahmer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, which is about to reach 1 billion view hours in the coming weeks.

Additionally, the streamer has also renewed another one of Murphy’s most recent shows, The Watcher, for a second season.

“Audiences can’t take their eyes off Monster and The Watcher,” Netflix’s Head of Global TV, Bela Bajaria said in a statement. “The creative team of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan on Monster, along with Eric Newman on The Watcher, are masterful storytellers who captivated audiences all over the world. The back-to-back force of these two series is due to Ryan’s distinct original voice, which created cultural sensations, and we are thrilled to continue telling stories in the Monster and Watcher universes.”

Monster is co-created and executive produced by longtime collaborators Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan. The future installments of Monster will tell the stories of other monstrous figures who have impacted society.

The first season starred Evan Peters (American Horror Story), Niecy Nash (Scream Queens), Penelope Ann Miller (American Crime), Shaun J. Brown (Run), and Colin Ford (Daybreak), as well as Oscar winner Richard Jenkins.

The Watcher hails from Murphy, Brennan, and Eric Newman. The first season starred Naomi Watts, Bobby Cannavale, Jennifer Coolidge, Margo Martindale, Mia Farrow, and more
