Following the ongoing theatrical and critical success of The Woman King, Oscar winner Viola Davis has officially found her next action project in the form of Amazon Studios’ thriller film titled G20.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Davis has signed on for the leading role of Taylor Sutton, a U.S. president who encounters a terrorists attack at the G20 summit.
“Viola is truly a one-of-a-kind talent both in front of and behind the camera, and we can’t wait to watch her bring the dynamic character that is President Sutton to life,” Julie Rapaport, head of movies at Amazon Studios, said in a statement.
G20 will be directed by Patricia Riggen from a screenplay written by Noah and Logan Miller with revisions from Caitlin Parrish and Erica Weiss. In addition to starring, Davis will also be serving as a producer through her JuVee Productions banner.
“In the film, after the G20 Summit gets overtaken by terrorists, American president Taylor Sutton must bring all her statecraft and military experience to defend her family, her fellow leaders, and, of course, the world,” reads the synopsis.
G20 will be produced by Julius Tennon of JuVee Productions and Andrew Lazar of Mad Chance. It hails from Amazon Studios and MRC Film. The film is expected to premiere on Prime Video.
