Harrison Ford Done With Indiana Jones After The Dial of Destiny

Although Harrison Ford is dusting off his hat to return as Indiana Jones in the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, he won’t be coming back after this one.

Speaking to Variety at the premiere of his Apple TV+ comedy series Shrinking, Ford was asked about returning to the character and said that he was always interested in seeing how the story of Indy would go.

“I always wanted to do it, I wanted to do the rest of the story to see the end of his career,” Ford said before noting that he wasn’t planning on coming back after this. “It’s the last time for me.”

While it’s unclear exactly what happens in the upcoming film, it’s not too surprising that the 80-year-old actor would be stepping away from an action franchise after this one. Despite that, it seems like Ford is ready to have one final send-off as the character when the film premieres on June 30, 2023.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will once again be led by Harrison Ford as he reprises one of his most iconic roles as the titular explorer. Joining him as the female lead is Emmy and Golden Globe winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The final installment will also feature the introduction of other franchise newcomers Antonio Banderas, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, and Shaunette Renée Wilson.

The long-awaited film is being directed by Oscar nominee James Mangold (Logan) from a new screenplay he is co-writing with Jez and John-Henry Butterworth, who collaborated on Ford v Ferrari. Mangold took over the director’s chair after Steven Spielberg exited his directorial duties for the film. Despite his exit, Spielberg will still remain part of the film’s production as a producer.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will also be produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel, with John Williams returning to score the film.
