Game of Thrones Prequel Series Dunk and Egg Ordered

Another Game of Thrones prequel series has been ordered by Max (formerly known as HBO Max), with this one being titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight.

The new prequel will cover the content of George R.R. Martin‘s Dunk and Egg novella trilogy, which follow the tale of Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and Aegon V Targaryen (Egg) approximately 100 years prior to the events of Game of Thrones. It is the second prequel series to be picked up by Max, after last year’s House of the Dragon.

The series will be written and executive produced by Martin and House of the Dragon producer Ira Parker and executive produced by Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis.

“A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros … a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg,” reads the series’ logline. “Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”
