The Day of the Jackal Cast: Lashana Lynch Joins Peacock’s Eddie Redmayne Series

According Variety, Captain Marvel breakout Lashana Lynch has officially been tapped to join The Day of the Jackal cast for Peacock’s upcoming series adaptation of Frederick Forsyth’s seminal thriller of the same name. Production is expected to begin sometime this year.

Lynch is set to portray the role of Bianca, a tenacious law enforcement agent who’s determined to catch a notorious assassin named The Jackal, played by Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne (The Danish Girl). After making her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Maria Rambeau, Lynch continued appearing in a number of high-profile features including No Time to Die, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, The Woman King, and Matilda the Musical.

What to Expect in The Day of the Jackal series?

“The series is a bold, modern reimagining of the beloved and respected novel and film,” reads the logline. “While staying true to the DNA of the original story, this contemporary drama will delve deeper into the chameleon-like ‘anti-hero’ at the heart of the story in a high octane, cinematic, globetrotting ‘cat and mouse’ thriller, set amidst the turbulent geo-political landscape of our time.”

The Day of the Jackal will be written by showrunner Ronan Bennett (Top Boy). Game of Thrones’ Brian Kirk attached to direct. In addition to starring, Redmayne has also boarded the project as an executive producer. Production is expected to begin sometime this year.

The adaptation will be executive produced by Gareth Neame, Nigel Marchant, and Sam Hoyle. It is produced by Carnival Films and Sky Studios, with Forsyth set as a consulting producer and Christopher Hall to produce.
