Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match Announced With Voice Cast & Plot Details

Mortal Kombat 1 is just around the corner, but that’s not the only Mortal Kombat media coming in 2023. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has just announced Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match, another entry in the annualized animated film series. The movie is coming sometime later this year.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match once again stars Joel McHale

According to IGN, the movie will be set in both Hollywood and the Netherrealm and is centered around Johnny Cage, who wasn’t in the previous film. It takes place in the 1980s and has Johnny going after his missing costar, which sends him in a “world filled with shadows, danger, and deceit.” Johnny then faces a “sinister secret society plotting a nefarious scheme” and fights Netherrealm’s warriors.

Joel McHale is once again playing Johnny, as revealed by the cast list:

• Zehra Fazal (Beavis and Butt-Head Do the Universe) as Jataaka

• Gilbert Gottfried (Aladdin, Royal Crackers) as David Doubldy

• Kelly Hu (Arrow, X2: X-Men United) as Ashrah

• Matt Yang King (Elemental) as Concierge

• Phil LaMarr (Futurama) as Brian Van Jones

• Matthew Mercer (Resident Evil: Death Island) as Director/Bully

• Dave B. Mitchell (Call of Duty franchise) as Raiden

• Armen Taylor (Justice Society: World War II) as Master Boyd

Ethan Spaulding is back as director, while Jeremy Adams, writer of the last three entries, is once again the screenwriter. Rick Morales, director of Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind, will be supervising producer. President of Warner Bros. Animation Sam Register and Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon are executive producers.
