The Killer’s Game Cast: Ice Cube Joins Dave Bautista Action Comedy
According to Deadline, Boyz n the Hood star Ice Cube has joined Lionsgate’s upcoming film adaptation of Jay Bonansinga’s The Killer’s Game. This marks his latest action comedy project, after appearances in Ride Along and 21 Jump Street.
The hip-hop icon will be joining previously announced cast members Dave Bautista, Ben Kingsley and Sofia Boutella. So far, only Bautista’s character has been revealed. The Guardians 3 star will portray a hitman misdiagnosed with a terminal illness.
What is The Killer’s Game about?
“The film follows veteran assassin Joe Flood, who is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and authorizes a kill on himself to avoid the pain that is destined to follow,” reads the synopsis. “After ordering the kill, he finds out that he was misdiagnosed and must then fend off the army of former colleagues trying to kill him.”
The Killer’s Game will be directed by J.J. Perry (Day Shift). The project has been in development for over two decades, with Bautista attached for the leading role since 2019. Before the Guardians of the Galaxy star landed the role, Hobbs and Shaw’s Jason Statham was originally going to lead the project.
The film is executive produced by Bautista and Jonathan Meisner, with Andrew Lazar, Steven Richards, Scott Lambert, Jake Katofsky and Vanessa Humphrey producing.
