Painkiller Trailer Previews Netflix’s Opioid Crisis Limited Series

The trailer for Painkiller previews the opioid crisis limited series, which will debut August 10 on Netflix. The six-episode drama is described as a “fictionalized retelling of events,” per the official synopsis. “It explores some of the origins and aftermath of the opioid crisis in America, highlighting the stories of the perpetrators, victims, and truth-seekers whose lives are forever altered by the invention of OxyContin. An examination of crime, accountability, and the systems that have repeatedly failed hundreds of thousands of Americans.”

Who Is in the Cast & Crew of Painkiller?

The limited series, which is based on Barry Meier’s book Pain Killer and the New Yorker Magazine article “The Family That Built the Empire of Pain” by Patrick Radden Keefe, stars Uzo Aduba and Matthew Broderick. Taylor Kitsch, Dina Shihabi, West Duchovny, and John Rothman also star.
