A Haunting in Venice Trailer Shows Hercule Poirot Getting Involved in a Supernatural Mystery

20th Century Studios has dropped the newest A Haunting in Venice trailer for the upcoming third installment of its Agatha Christie adaptations, featuring Kenneth Branagh’s return as detective Hercule Poirot. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 15.

The video highlights Hercule Poirot’s next chilling case about a supernatural mystery involving a séance gone wrong. It shows Poirot getting enlisted by an old friend to help her determine if Michelle Yeoh’s psychic character is a fake. However, it seems like Poirot will have a difficult time disproving the supernatural, as the trailer shows the detective getting spooked by multiple strange encounters.

What is A Haunting in Venice about?

“Set in eerie, post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve, the film is a terrifying mystery featuring the return of the celebrated sleuth, Hercule Poirot,” reads the synopsis. “Now retired and living in self-imposed exile in the world’s most glamorous city, Poirot reluctantly attends a séance at a decaying, haunted palazzo. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrust into a sinister world of shadows and secrets.”

A Haunting in Venice is directed by Branagh from a screenplay written by Michael Green, based on Christie’s 1969 novel Hallowe’en Party. The film stars Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Jamie Dornan (Belfast), Tina Fey (30 Rock), Kelly Reilly (Yellowstone), Kyle Allen (Rosaline), Camille Cottin (Call My Agent), Jude Hill (Belfast), Ali Khan (6 Underground), Emma Laird (Mayor of Kingstown), and Riccardo Scamarico (Caravaggio’s Shadow).

The third installment reunites the team of filmmakers behind 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express and 2022’s Death on the Nile. Executive producers are Louise Killin and James Prichard, along with filmmakers Ridley Scott, Simon Kinberg, and Mark Gordon. It is produced by Judy Hofflund.
